Copycat IN-N-OUT Burgers

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb TD Ground Beef or Bison
  • 4 Hamburger Buns
  • 4 Slices of American or Cheddar Cheese
  • 2 TBLS Mayonnaise
  • 1 TBLS Relish
  • 2 TBLS Ketchup
  • 1 tsp Kosher Salt
  • 4 Leaves of Lettuce
  • 4 Large Slices of Tomato

 

Directions:

  • Form the Patties:
    • Divide the ground beef into four equal portions.
    • Shape each portion into a thin patty, about ½ inch thick.
  • Prepare the Cooking Surface:
    • Preheat a cast iron pan on your stovetop or grill until it's medium hot.
    • Place the patties onto the grill surface.
    • Sprinkle the patties with salt.
  • Cook the Patties:
    • Cook the patties for about 3 minutes on each side.
    • After flipping the patties for the first time, place a slice of cheese on each patty.
    • Cover the cooking surface with a bowl or rounded lid to melt the cheese and ensure the patties are fully cooked.
  • Prepare the Burger Spread:
    • While the patties are cooking, whisk together the prepared sauces to make the burger spread.
  • Toast the Buns:
    • Remove the patties from the pan after 5-6 minutes of cooking and place them on a plate.
    • Wipe the grill surface clean.
    • Place the buns onto the cooking surface to toast.
    • Toast the buns for about 1 minute, or 30 seconds on each side.
