Big Mac Salad With the Special Sauce
Ingredients
Salad
- 1 lb TD ground bison or beef or primal blend (for extra nutrients)
- 1 tsp kosher salt (omit if using garlic salt)
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp granulated garlic
- 1 tsp granulated onion
- 1 head iceberg lettuce, chopped & washed (or romaine/salad mix)
- 1 cup grape tomatoes, halved
- 3 dill pickle spears, roughly chopped
- ½ red onion, sliced
- ½ cup (4 oz) shredded cheddar cheese
Big Mac Sauce
Makes approximately 3/4 cup of sauce.
- 1/2 cup quality mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons dill pickle relish (you can also use sweet pickle relish and omit the granulated sugar)
- 1 tablespoon finely minced onion
- 2 tablespoons natural ketchup (see note)
- 2 teaspoons yellow mustard
- 1 teaspoon white vinegar
- 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
Directions
Big Mac Sauce:
Place all of the ingredients in bowl and stir to combine. Can be used immediately but for best flavor results cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving. Shake or stir before serving. Will keep for up to 2 weeks.
Cook Beef:
Cook ground beef in a skillet over medium heat until browned and crumbled. Add salt, pepper, garlic, and onion. Stir to combine.
Assemble Salad:
Place cut, washed lettuce on a large plate or bowl. Add cooked beef, cheese, onion, pickles, and tomatoes.
Finish & Serve:
Toss salad together gently. Drizzle Big Mac sauce or Thousand Island dressing on top.
