In N Out burgers, America’s Favorite Dupe

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb Ground Beef or Bison
  • 4 Hamburger Buns
  • 4 Slices of American or Cheddar Cheese
  • 2 Tbsp. Mayonnaise
  • 1 Tbsp. Relish
  • 2 Tbsp. Ketchup
  • 1 tsp. Kosher Salt
  • 4 Leaves of Lettuce
  • 4 Large Slices of Tomato

Directions:

  1. Form the Patties:
    1. Divide the ground beef into four equal portions.
    2. Shape each portion into a thin patty, about ½ inch thick.
  2. Prepare the Cooking Surface:
    1. Preheat a cast iron pan on your stovetop or grill until it's medium hot.
    2. Place the patties onto the grill surface.
    3. Sprinkle the patties with salt.
  3. Cook the Patties:
    1. Cook the patties for about 3 minutes on each side.
    2. After flipping the patties for the first time, place a slice of cheese on each patty.
    3. Cover the cooking surface with a bowl or rounded lid to melt the cheese and ensure the patties are fully cooked.
  4. Prepare the Burger Spread:
    1. While the patties are cooking, whisk together the prepared sauces to make the burger spread.
  5. Toast the Buns:
    1. Remove the patties from the pan after 5-6 minutes of cooking and place them on a plate.
    2. Wipe the grill surface clean.
    3. Place the buns onto the cooking surface to toast.
    4. Toast the buns for about 1 minute, or 30 seconds on each side.
